Patient Surveillance in the Intensive Care Unit: Utilization of Clinical Decision Support Tools for the Management of Ventilated Patients Optimizing Patient Surveillance to Increase Protocol Adherence, Improve Ventilator Settings, and Prevent Acute Lung Injury
ثبت نشده
چکیده
∙ Patient surveillance technology can improve adherence to and optimization of ventilator protocols, shorten the time on the ventilator, and reduce the likelihood of acute lung injury. ∙ Patient surveillance technology can aid clinicians in preventing or reducing the incidence of adverse ventilator associated events, including ventilator-associated pneumonia, and ultimately, help improve patient outcomes. ∙ Patient surveillance technology can assist clinicians in weaning patients off the ventilator by promoting more effective use of spontaneous breathing trial protocols, thus shortening the time on the ventilator, reducing the incidence of ventilator associated events, and reducing the cost of care.

Tilt Table Practice Improved Ventilation in a Patient with Prolonged Artificial Ventilation Support in Intensive Care Unit
Patients who are on prolonged ventilator support in critical care unit present wide variety of complications, which range from reduction in oxygen uptake to various musculoskeletal impair-ments. Early mobilization and rehabilitation are encouraged to manage these complications effectively. Use of tilt table to motivate early mobilization in the intensive care unit for ventilator practices is no...

Background and Objective: Some of multiple trauma patients admitted in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) are intubated and ventilated by mechanical ventilation. These patients are prone to many complications such as lung disease. Reasons for this complication are patients without any movement, incomplete cough reflex, GI aspiration and then not a good pulmonary discharge prone the lungs of patients to ...
متن کاملEffect of Support Program on Satisfaction of Family Members of ICU Patients
Background: This study has been conducted to investigate the effect of family-centered support program on satisfaction of the family members of patients in intensive care unit. Hospitalization of patient in intensive care unit causes crisis in family. It is very important to pay attention to the role of patient’s family in support and care of patients in intensive care unit, to pay attent...
متن کاملDetails behind the dots: How different intensive care units used common and contrasting methods to prevent ventilator associated pneumonia
Care bundles promote delivery of effective care and improve patient outcomes. The understanding of how to improve delivery of care bundles is incomplete. The Scottish Patient Safety Programme is a national collaborative with the aim of improving the delivery of care to patients in acute hospitals in Scotland. Critical care is one of five workstreams in the programme. A programme goal is to redu...
متن کاملA New Lung Mechanics Model and Its Evaluation with Clinical Data
Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is a major cause of morbidity and has a high rate of mortality. ARDS patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) require mechanical ventilation (MV) for breathing support, but inappropriate settings of MV can lead to ventilator induced lung injury (VILI). Those complications may be avoided by carefully optimizing ventilation parameters through model-base...
